Montgomery Little Bears

Our curriculum is carefully curated by age with the goal of developmental progress in mind. Each teacher writes their own curriculum to promote engagement with the children. We integrate both Spanish and ASL into every aspect of our learning.

We utilize both the CDC Developmental Milestones and CLI Engage Developmental Milestones to ensure our curriculum is fitted with developmentally appropriate objectives.

We are a Montessori-based school that follows a play-based style of learning. With this approach, we can create a more engaging environment that fosters curiosity, exploration and retainment. We integrate sensory activities where our students engage their senses and explore new aspects of the world around them.

We utilize Reggio Emilia practices throughout our school which focuses on providing children with opportunities to make choices for themselves. This is included in our day to day with rug work and tandem exercises. 

Social Emotional Learning is a vital aspect of the culture we cultivate at MLB & TBC. With Social Emotional learning, children acquire and apply the skills to develop healthy identities, manage emotions, achieve their goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions. We practice setting strong boundaries, exploring personal interests and helping our littles to develop their sense of self.

At Montgomery Little Bears and The Bear Cave, we use Conscious Discipline to practice self regulation that integrates social-emotional learning and discipline. Conscious discipline is a comprehensive emotional intelligence and classroom management system that integrates all domains of learning (social emotional, physical, cultural and cognitive). This approach focuses on helping children communicate and become emotionally intelligent.
